Specialized care in private long-term care

Hamburg, 30.09.2015

From 23.06.2012 until today, 30.09.2015, you were my state-certified nurse in my condition of paraplegia. Within the scope of the assignment, you were available to me 24 hours a day.

In my disabled physical condition and the resulting internal-medical situation, this required up to four daily visits, where necessary as part of a team — in the morning, at noon, in the afternoon and in the evening.

Your duties also included medication dosing and monitoring, the use of nursing aids, care documentation and all medical and nursing tasks resulting from the condition of paraplegia. Transfers to and from bed, as well as the procedures of dressing and undressing, involved very personal situations.

You performed this task beyond the purely professional level, with very great personal commitment, also on trips lasting several days.

My personal requirements and particularities as someone now over 90 years old were certainly especially challenging. I was pleased that you honored me so kindly on my 90th birthday.

I would particularly like to emphasize your contribution to the creation of a care team that continued to work in a coordinated manner, your coordination of monthly duty rosters and the smoothly functioning coordination with the treating physicians. Not to be forgotten are the procurement of medications and nursing supplies from the pharmacy and the commissioning of services for the repair of equipment and aids. In your area of responsibility, you were therefore an important, honest, prudent and proactive freelance colleague on whom I could rely without reservation, who was always reachable, and to whom I can issue only the best possible reference.

At the time of your resignation I already said that I regretted your decision, but understood that you wished to pursue new professional and private challenges in the future.

My wife and I accompany you with our best wishes on your further path in life.
